This is a complete self-help book for parents, specially for mothers-to-be, and covers both practical and emotional aspects of conception, pregnancy and childbirth. Resulting from a unique partnership of a husband-wife team of Yoga experts, it shows mothers how to maintain perfect health during pregnancy and how to prepare for a natural childbirth — free of all anxiety and emotional stress. The authors follow-up with their detailed 3-part course of yogic and breathing exercises for women — before, during and after pregnancy.
Sri Ananda is the founder-head of the 'Centre Indien de Yoga' in Paris, where he teaches traditional Yoga and meditation. His research into Hatha-Yoga was carried out under the guidance of Swami Kuvalyananda of Kaivalyadhama, Lonavla, India. He has also studied Ayurveda, in particular the Samhitas of Charaka, Sushruta and Vagbhata. In this book, he makes a special reference to these texts which deal with conception, embryology, hygiene and balanced diet.
Anjali Devi was initiated to Hatha-Yoga by B. Krishnayya, from the Kaivalyadhama. While studying child nursing and working in the delivery theatre at the maternity hospital headed by her father, himself a surgeon and gynaecologist, she realised the usefulness of Yoga for mothers during pregnancy. Encouraged by her father, she developed a Yoga course for mothers-to-be. A large part of the book is devoted to a detailed description of the Yoga course for pregnant women, designed as a result of her long years of experience in this field.
